House Votes to Block CFPB's Arbitration Rule

The U.S. House Financial Services Committee, chaired by Chairman Jeb Hensarling, announced that the House voted 231-190 on Tuesday to block the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's recently issued final rule banning pre-dispute arbitration agreements that prohibit class actions in court. The release quotes Chairman Hensarling extensively, and includes his characterization of the CFPB as the "Trial Lawyer Enrichment Bureau."
