Auto Lease

Auto Lease covers laws that apply to indirect consumer-purpose auto leasing. The product addresses issues in a question/answer format, and includes questions on licensing, lease rates and computations, fees and payment limitations, disclosures, certain tax implications, titling and registration, early and lease-end termination, vehicle disposition, and collections. The responses are based on state statutes, regulations and materials published by the regulating entity. The responses generally do not cover local or municipal ordinances. Auto Lease does not address issues related to direct loans, retail installment sales, short term leases, commercial purpose leases, rental or rent-to-own transactions, or other transactions that do not involve motor vehicle indirect long term leases.

In Auto Lease, the term "lessor" applies to the original lessor and to any subsequent assignee of lease. When the law treats the original lessor and assignee differently, we refer to the parties as "lessor" and "holder."
