Security Breach is a multi-state database of state law data breach notification requirements and applicable notification triggers, and includes sample notification letters and a template Critical Event Plan. Security Breach addresses data breach notification issues in a question/answer format, and responses are based on state statutes, regulations and other pertinent materials.
Security Breach does not address: (i) the security breach obligations of any state agency; (ii) the security breach notice requirements imposed by a municipality or other subdivision of a state; (iii) the notice or reporting obligations relating to other misconduct, unlawful activities, or losses (e.g. thefts, employee embezzlement and fraud) that might involve the penetration of a computer system but that is not a "security breach" under the state's security breach notification law; or (iv) the requests or requirements of state agencies that are not reflected in the state's laws or regulations (e.g., information provided in, or required by, agency bulletins or similar publications).
