On June 25, 2026, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker signed Senate Bill 3561, which creates the Buy-Now-Pay-Later Loan Consumer Protection Act. The Act requires compliance by January 1, 2028, or any later date established by rule by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
